Mainstreaming green roofs in the UK


Over the last ten years green roofs have slowly moved from the margins of the construction industry to the mainstream. This has been a slow process but it has its roots in the work of Urban Ecologists and a few notable architects back in the late 1980’s and 1990’s.

Dusty Gedge, co founder of Livingroos.org, the first independent green roof organization in the UK, and the President of the European Green Roof Association (EFB), speaks about campaigning for the whole scale adoption of green roofs in major developments and for regulations to insist that they are adopted as a legal requirement in London and the rest of the UK.
