Events over several years (1997, 2001, 2009) and May 2010, when thousands of Polish farms where flooded by water, have compelled us to ask the question: “Shouldn’t we think about better management of rainwater?” Seeing the effects of floods, the answer is obvious.

Despite numerous studies carried out abroad, there is still a lack of research results which would analyze the effectiveness of green roofs in this area in Polish conditions. In Poland, this issue is still new and still insufficiently recognized. Studies on the assessment of green roofs as a technology to regulate the outflow began at the University of Natural Sciences in Wroclaw in June 2009 and are on-going.
